Sacramento, California (PRWEB) November 25, 2013

The Palace Hotel in San Francisco was the site of the 52nd annual Consumer Attorneys of California convention, and John Demas, a Sacramento personal injury lawyer, was among the distinguished speakers at this event. As part of the series of presentations to trial lawyers from throughout the state, Mr. Demas spoke on “Dealing with Typical Case Nightmares at Trial: Gaps in Treatment, Bad Medical Records, Unlikeable Clients.”

The purpose of the CAOC convention is to help attorneys obtain information that will lead them to a better and more successful practice of trial law. To this end, Mr. Demas and the other speakers at the convention sought to address issues facing trial lawyers, especially the topics that are not necessarily part of law school curriculum. With over twenty years of trial experience, Mr. Demas addressed problems that many lawyers face when preparing a personal injury case, and offered tips on how to handle these issues in front of a jury.

That same day, Mr. Demas was also honored as a speaker at the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, where he addressed both plaintiffs and defense attorneys at the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) meeting. This group of attorneys is among the very best in practice as trial lawyers, and Mr. Demas is a member of the Sacramento Valley chapter of this prestigious organization. The topic of the seminar was ABOTA Masters in Trial: ABOTA attorneys presenting real-life cases. Participating attorneys were asked to argue a real-life case, and Mr. Demas presented the plaintiffs opening statement.

John Demas, the founder of Demas Law Group in Sacramento, is often asked to address groups of attorneys to share his wisdom and experience For many years, Mr. Demas has epitomized professional and ethical personal injury law practice in California and has devoted time and resources to helping young attorneys understand best practices for representing their clients.

About John Demas: John Demas is a personal injury attorney in Sacramento, California. For more than 20 years, Mr. Demas and the attorneys at Demas Law Group have been fighting for the rights of victims of personal injury accidents including car crashes, motorcycle wrecks, pedestrian collisions, slip and fall cases and defective drugs or products.

NYC – Rockefeller Center: 30 Rockefeller Plaza – Wisdom
wisdom

Sculpted by Lee Lawrie, the imposing low-relief panel, Wisdom, was insalled over the entrance to the main building of Rockefeller Center, 30 Rockefeller Plaza. The 37 foot high art deco icon can be clearly seen from Fifth Avenue. In addition to scale, Lawrie relied on mass, color, gilding and two different materials to create his piece.

The top piece, 22′x14′ of Indiana limestone, depicts a figure set at an angular slant, thrusting out towards the spectator from a vast, swelling of clouds around his naked body. With furrowed brown and golden rays crowning his head, his left hand shoves away the "clouds of ignorance" and his right clutches a golden compass theat measures the cosmic forces swirling in 15′x55 glass screen below. His long beard, symbolizing experience, is blown back by sheer force of that which surrounds him. Below the figure reads the Biblical passage,"Wisdom and Knowledge Shall Be the Stability of Thy Times" (Isaiah 33:6).

Wisdom is flanked on either side by Sound and Light, and was the first exterior piece in the Center to be painted and gilded.

German-born Lee Lawrie was well known as an architectural sculptor. His work can be found at St. Thomas Church and throughout Rockefeller Center: Winged Mercury and Heraldic Lions at the British Empire Building; Fleur-de-lis and Seeds of Good Citizenship at La Maison Française; Progress at One Rockefeller Plaza; The Story of Mankind, Saint Francis of Assisi, Swords into Plowshares, Columbia Greeting a Woman, Boatman, Fourteen coats of Arms, Corncucopia of Plenty, and most famously, Atlas at the International building.

Rockefeller Center was designated a landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1985.

In 2007, Rockefeller Center was ranked #56 on the AIA 150 America’s Favorite Architecture list.

Full Spectrum Leadership Academy – various US cities throughout 2014
Event on 2014-01-01 18:00:00
Are you a successful entrepreneur or leader with a flourishing business, but you know something is missing?  Do you lose your focus amidst too many ideas to execute on?   Do you know that profit and purpose are important – but end up with more of one than the other?  Does that sound familiar?  Do you, too, find yourself wishing to live an integrated life which expresses the full spectrum of who you are?

If so, you're a lot like me. After founding a really cool award-winning social-purpose business which does 7-figures and amazing transformational work with young people, I realized the container I created was not offering me the integrated life I wanted.  How often do you find yourself wishing to live a simplified, integrated lifestyle with more space and wisdom for everything that matters?

I found myself thinking this when I was on retreat in Atsitsa Bay on the beautiful Greek Island of Skyros where a such a purposeful and balanced life felt totally possible.  So, for the past 5 years, I have been ruthlessly committed to making this a reality:  how to integrate making a difference, making a good living while remaining serious about my self-exploration, spiritual inquiry and fun.

What I've discovered is that an integrated life of conscious productivity, being and doing, space and success, is possible.  But very few people are living it. That's where the Full Spectrum Leadership Academy comes in. Whereas other programs overemphasize productivity or finances or lifestyle, we teach you the full spectrum of what's possible as a leader in our world today. Because youcan learn to lead an integrated life that includes purpose, financial success, personal development, spiritual insight and–perhaps most importantly – enjoyment.

What people say

Dr Michael Gaeta, DAc, MS, CDN, natural health publisher, international speaker, owner of acupuncture practices in Boulder and New York and radio show host with over 100,000 subscribers  [www.gaetacommunications.com]

"I am one of those helper, ideational, creative types that often have problems landing and grounding the ideas that come to me.  Jack has been really helpful as a business coach and business strategist to help me take my vision and really land it.  From a business perspective, we are having our best year ever since working with him, our overall sales are up 38% and I know that is directly related to the work on strategy and personal productivity I have been doing with Jack."

The Full Spectrum Leadership Academy is a premier learning program to take high-functioning, self-aware leaders with a track record of success to a more integrated life, to their next level of contribution, awareness, lifestyle, leadership, and integration.

If this speaks to you, I would love to have you be a part of it.  It is a select, exclusive group who take their own growth and contribution seriously.

We only have 15 places.  Act now to claim yours.

Joining the Academy, you will learn to lead a more integrated life including:

  • high-definition business – do you find yourself running around during your day in a blur and stress thinking 'I know I am better than this?'  Learn what, as a founder, CEO, or director you are currently spending your time on versus best spending your time on
  • an effective self-management system – how are those 100 emails a day working for you?  Loving it?!   Understand how to keep yourself in flow and in control with an implementable system which synthesizes the best approaches out there.  Have an inbox which is inherently manageable alongside keeping your commitments and keeping you in high priority action
  • the importance of both/and vs either/or thinking - ever find some people's black and white thinking limiting?  Learn why and how you can create more possibilites for yourself, your business and your loved ones.
  • 7 of the most important both/ands to manage – for example, the both/and of purpose and profit – and what your lack of both/and thinking is currently costing you
  • 3-centered living (head, heart and gut) – as someone who has always been smart, my head got me a fair way in academia and business.  But you probably know it will only take you so far.  Learn why accessing all your intelligences makes you more fully human, a better leader and decision-maker.  Plus we'll point out the challenge of habitually neglecting a center (which by the way we all do)
  • which of the 3 instincts (self-preservation, sexual, and social) you under-attend to – how often do you find that you are underslept to the point of compromising performance?  How often do you isolate yourself from spending time with people who lift you up?  Why is that?  Two words:  instinctual stack.   Grasp how to balance your instinctual attention to become a more balanced and choiceful leader
  • how to be a new human, someone who is self-authoring of their life-script.  Follow the same spiritual path as your parents?  Choose their career? Want their way of doing relationship?  Thought not.  Be your own guru at a time when no-one is inheriting the path by which to live a productive, expressive, integrated, successful, spiritual life
  • the key components of integral leadership – when I first learnt about levels and lines of development hanging out with Ken Wilber it was a massive moment of insight. Now I get why my friend Barry is so spiritual yet lacking in social awareness.  Incorporating this knowledge makes you a leader who sees more and manages complexity better
  • how to bring in 80/20 thinking, minimum effective dose and key dimensions of awareness to make you significantly more effective – for years I struggled to work out what to take from my diet to stop me feeling so tired.  Then the penny dropped:  it wasn't what I was eating, it was what I wasn't eating.  Thanks to Tim Ferriss, I now eat a massive pile of protein every morning (people ask me if I am preparing lunch at the same time! Ahem. No.) and have never felt better.  Learn the tools to bring you to your own personal insights way quicker.
  • the fundamentals of the Enneagram - when I first came across the Enneagram personality profile travelling in Goa, India, I resisted it. Don't you put me in a box.  When I was running my team back in London and kept losing sleep over the same dynamic with a staff member, I could not deny that the description of type 7 – type 8 work challenges in my Enneagram book was annoyingly acccurate.  3 years on and having studied with the best teachers in the world, I tell everyone I work with about arguably the best typology system accurately to map what gets in your way of your presence
  • to able to bring both the spiritual part and the kickass part of you to one place with other people who have both.  During a 6-month global learning journey, I had been journalling for 3 hours on the beach on Lamma Island off Hong Kong when I finally got who my tribe was; I have been building it tirelessly ever since.  Tired of hanging out with woo-woo, ungrounded spiritual types? Or type A personalities who think rest is merely for the weak.  No more.

Be part of a select peer group, who see you, share your challenges, get how to make stuff happen, and are committed to human excellence and integration in a way most people are not.

Comedian Jeff Foxworthy and Author/Radio Host Peter Rosenberger Team Up with AARP to Reach Caregivers During Novembers National Caregiver Month

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) November 28, 2013

Caregiving is a subject Peter Rosenberger knows only too well. As the sole caregiver for his wife of 27 years, who experienced a 1983 horrific car accident, Peters helped navigate his family through a medical catastrophe that (to date) includes 78 surgeries, multiple amputations, 60 physicians, 12 hospitals, 7 insurance companies, and $ 9 million in health care costs.

There are experts, and then theres Peter Rosenberger, states AARP TN director of community outreach, Tara Shaver. “Peter left expert decades ago, and went straight to leading authority on the issues facing todays caregivers. He gets right to the heart of the challenges and offer practical advice with the calm assurance of someone whos faced relentless battles-and that’s why we recruited him to write a monthly blog for us.

When authoring his new book, Wear Comfortable Shoes – Surviving and Thriving as a Caregiver,” Peter coined the phrase, The DELTA DOCTRINE after hearing a Delta flight attendant share what has become the overarching message of his caregiver outreach. Rosenberger simply instructs fellow caregivers to do what flight attendants tell passengers to do in the event of cabin pressure loss: Put your mask on first before assisting othersits mighty hard to help someone when you are gasping for air yourself!

With practical advice and a lifetime of experience, Peters book and his weekly radio show also contains the unexpected bonus of his ability to laugh and get others to join with him even while dealing with brutal circumstances.

One of the most engaging factors of working with Peter is his terrific sense of humor, adds Shaver. His amazing comedic flair is in stark contrast to the tragic issues faced by his family. AARP TN director of communications, Karin Miller, agrees. He transitions seamlessly from deep empathy to hilarious moments that cause us to burst out laughing. That comedy and compassion, along with his vast reservoir of wisdom, serves as drink of cool water to the weary and parched hearts of his fellow caregivers.”

Clowning around once while speaking about this subject, I did my best Jeff Foxworthy imitation and delivered a one-liner of, If you have a professional carpet cleaner on retaineryou might be a caregiver,” said Rosenberger.

Others agreed it was funny, and said, You and Jeff ought to do some of thoseit would really connect with folks.

Inviting long time friend, Jeff Foxworthy, the two men got together and, with the help of AARP, they made a video thats giving laughter and the message of community to caregivers.

Watch the video and the hilarious outtakes.

“We caregivers can easily become bogged down in what I call the ‘Three Is,’ adds Rosenberger. We lose our independence, our identity, and we become isolated. Taking on that isolation factor, we wanted to let others know that although it is a lonely walk, they are not alone.

“With a few jokes, the extended hand of experience, and the community of AARP, we seek to strengthen caregivers one weary heart at time.

Peter W. Rosenberger is the president of Standing With Hope, an evangelical prosthetic limb outreach to West Africa founded by Peter and his wife, Gracie. Authoring two books and numerous articles, Peter also speaks regularly about caregiving issues and hosts a radio show on Nashville’s 1510 WLAC. He and Gracie have been married for 27 years, and they have two sons.

Jeff Foxworthy is one of the most respected and successful comedians in the country. He is the largest selling comedy-recording artist in history, a multiple Grammy Award nominee and best selling author of 11 books. Widely known for his redneck jokes, his act goes well beyond that to explore the humor in everyday family interactions and human nature, a style that has been compared to Mark Twains.

Cercle pour femmes: SAGESSE DE L’UTERUS
Event on 2014-03-14 20:00:00

CYCLES OF LIFE: FROM CHILD TO ADULT

Course # 8 of Transformational Arts College of Spiritual and Holistic Training's Discovering the Total Self Program: an extensive program consisting of 10 modules in psychospiritual development.

From the Transformational Arts College of Spiritual and Holistic Training Calendar:

Discovering the Total Self: The Emerging Sacred Human is an extensive program designed to balance body, mind and spirit, bringing the individual to a state of personal empowerment through the transformational process. A psychospiritual approach is taken in the course teachings that incorporate a blending of ancient spiritual wisdom, esoteric principles, contemporary psychology and emotional healing.

This program is based on two different paths that must be travelled on simultaneously in our spiritual journey. One is the Path of the Contemporary Mystic. The other is the Path of Emotional Healing. These paths can be paradoxical in nature. The Path of the Contemporary Mystic encourages us to transcend our egos, surrender , go with the flow, trust divine guidance, detach, enter into the mystery and be of service.

The Path of Emotional Healing and Self-Discovery takes us into our self, healing our wounds and developing a healthy sense of ego – getting our needs met, expressing feelings, having a voice and taking charge of our life.

This program teaches the student the art of balancing on both paths on their spiritual journey. It honours that we are both spiritual and human at the same time and that we are really spiritual beings having a human experience – we are 'Sacred Humans'.

In total, 10 course modules in psychospiritual development are offered in the Discovering the Total Self Program. You can complete the program at your own pace, take more than one course at a time or take only those that interest you.

Course includes:

  • The many faces of the inner child — from lost child to magical child
  • Healing the wounded inner child — the hurt, angry, rebel, fearful and survivor child
  • Healing the stages of childhood development — infant, toddler, preschooler, school-aged child and adolescent
  • Developing and living from your adult — setting goals, parenting yourself and taking responsibility
  • Conscious and unconscious relationships

March 17-28, 2014: Horses, Coaching & Somatics (EGE-2) – CA
Event on 2014-03-17 10:00:00

Approved by the ICF (International Coaching Federation for 62 CCE (Continuing Ed Units).

“Somatics — the the art and science of the inter-relational process between awareness, biological function and environment, all three factors being understood as a synergistic whole; the mind, body, spirit as a unity.”

This program is open to individuals who have taken EGE-1 and want to deepen their knowledge and skill in the horse as healer/teacher profession, animal communication and land based wisdom and for individuals who want to immerse themselves in-depth learning of a somatic and spiritual nature.

Whether you are a coach, therapist, healer or teacher this class offers a multi-faceted approach to deepening your facilitation skills, refining your intuition, and developing your non-verbal listening, and somatic perspective.

The joy of learning, for many of us, is an ongoing opportunity to expand our awareness, consciousness and skill. This program incorporates facilitation (leading change in others), horse wisdom, animal communication, the power of intention, land based knowledge, and being on purpose as primary keys to creating supportive, unique learning environments for ourselves, our clients, students and anyone interested in connecting to their greater purpose in life. This program is open to anyone who is interested in thinking outside the box and who wants to develop their communication and/or facilitation skills.

This program focuses on developing your particular style of facilitation, while gaining further clarity on the EGE process, exercises that you plan to utilize, and goals and plans for incorporating EGE into your professional offer. You do not have to know the type of people or focus of topics before coming into the program. You will become clear about how you want to work and the people you want to work with during the program. Words of wisdom for today’s graduates and tomorrow’s leaders come from great minds: Emerson, Thoreau, L. Frank Baum, Charles Schulz, Dr. Seuss, Native American stories and from today’s great writers like Robert Fulghum, Linda Sue Park and Mitch Albom.

Each of these fine books resounds the same message…"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?" "That depends a good deal on where you want to get to." –Alice in Wonderland

Set goals in life, take time to do for others, stop and smell the roses, and keep learning and reflecting.

Event on 2014-07-18 19:00:00
Crystal Bowersox has made it her mission to live life and her music to the fullest. With a gentle warmth and wisdom well beyond her years, the consummate artist has an uncompromising vision of herself and her music that is refreshing and rare. “I believe if you stand for something, stand your ground; stand it strong and stand it proud.” It is this fortitude and courageous spirit that resonated with millions night after night when the 2010 American Idol runner up took the stage. There is a sincerity and authenticity about her that just can’t be manufactured. The same can be said about her musical prowess, which has all the markings of a creative force to reckon with who is in it for the long haul. Her rich amalgam of blues, country, folk and rock makes her one of the most dynamic young voices in music to come along in years. She has performed alongside everyone from Harry Connick Jr., Joe Cocker, and Alanis Morrisette, to Michael Franti, John Popper and BB King. All That For This, Crystal Bowersox’s sophomore release and Shanachie Entertainment debut, is a powerful testament of her talents as both a singer and songwriter, as well as her unerring musical vision. She confides, “I am more proud of this body of work then anything I’ve done before. If this music can move someone to tears or makes them smile, then I have really accomplished something. That's all I can ask for.” Doors open 5:30pm for dinner & full bar. Showtime 7pm. All Ages. Reporting on the U.S. Use of Torture : At Carnegie Council Event, Professor Gushee and Brigadier General Irvine Discuss Task Force Report on Detainee Treatment

(PRWEB) December 03, 2013

On November 21, 2013, Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs hosted an unforgettable event with Professor David Gushee and Brigadier General David Irvine, members of The Constitution Project’s Task Force on Detainee Treatment. This nonpartisan, independent group examined the treatment of suspected terrorists during the Clinton, Bush, and Obama administrations, with particular emphasis on the post 9/11 years. The report, released on April 16, 2013, found that in many instances, the United States was guilty of torture. Yet because of President Obamas decision to look forward, not backward, it is unlikely that the people involved will ever be held accountable.

The events that we examined in this report are unprecedented in United States history, said General Irvine. In our previous conflicts there have been brutal acts against captives, as has been the case by armies and governments throughout history. But there is no evidence that ever before has there been the kind of considered and detailed discussions that occurred after September 11, 2001, directly involving a president and his top advisors, on the wisdom, propriety, and legality of inflicting pain and torment on certain prisoners in our custody.

David Gushee is a professor of Christian ethics and director of the Center for Theology and Public Life at Mercer University. David Irvine is a former military intelligence officer who taught prisoner of war interrogation and military law for several hundred soldiers, Marines, and airmen.

The Constitution Projects Task Force on Detainee Treatment is an independent, bipartisan, blue-ribbon panel charged with examining the federal governments policies and actions related to the capture, detention and treatment of suspected terrorists during the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations.
