Bachaco

BACHACO is an international Afro-Caribbean Roots Rock band based out of Miami, Florida in the U.S. Their music successfully blends feel-good and conscious lyrics through the mix of Reggae, Dancehall and Ska with Rock, Hip-Hop and Colombian Cumbia. Their recent and much anticipated self-titled independent debut album is out now and features their hit singles “Cumbia Pa’ La Nena” and “Ni Una Lagrima” Their “Cumbia Pa’ La Nena” video, produced by Latin Grammy Winner video director Cesar Rodriguez, achieved rotation on MTV Tr3s and MTV Latin America. BACHACO was also selected as “Descubre & Download” Artist of the Month on the MTV Tr3s website during November 2012 where visitors downloaded the hit single “Cumbia Pa’ La Nena” completely free. Both singles reached the top 20 charts on AOL Radio’s Rock Latino station with “Cumbia pa’ la Nena” on #3 and “Ni Una Lagrima” on #1. BACHACO’s debut album also includes the hit singles “Jamaican Cumbia” as well as a special collaboration with South American Reggae legends Gondwana on “Cruzando Fronteras.” Since its formation in 2007, BACHACO has performed over 300 concerts all the way from Argentina to Canada sharing stage and performing at the same events and festivals as other big names in the reggae and world music scenes such as Israel Vibration, Toots & The Maytals, Tribal Seeds, Ozomatli, Luciano, Easy Star All-stars, Midnite, Cultura Profetica, Gondwana, Los Cafres, Los Pericos, Bahiano, Alika, Jarabe de Palo, Los Amigos Invisibles, WAR, King Chango and many more. BACHACO has also showcased during the SXSW and LAMC music conferences thanks to support from BMI. BACHACO’s members hail from Venezuela, Colombia, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Peru and the U.S. allowing their songs to naturally flow in both English and Spanish but the true language BACHACO speaks is its own music and what they transmit: An Explosive International High Energy Groove! That is simply the result of the band’s own diverse range of nationalities. BACHACO is a true multi-cultural experience. BACHACO was initially conceived and founded by Venezuelan brothers Edilberto “Eddy” Morillo, lead vocals, and Jose Morillo, bass and vocals, along with Domingo Medina on drums, also from Venezuela. The current 8-piece line up consists of: Edilberto “Eddy” Morillo on vocals, Domingo Medina on drums, Jamaican guitarist and vocalist Matthew Jacquette, Bruce McKinnon Jr., Miami-born half Colombian half Irish, on trumpet and vocals, Alexander Cruz, Puerto Rican, on trombone, Farid Cure on electric guitar, from Colombia, Cristian “Mumbles” Rocha from Peru, and John “Jp” Guinan, Cuban-American, on the sax. What is a Bachaco? The word Bachaco is the name given to a Leafcutter Ant in Venezuela. The same type of ant is found accross that Amazon Rainforest and in countries such as Panama, Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil. The insect is used by Venezuelan indians to create a “picante” (hot sauce). We could say Bachaco is a musical PICANTE.

Knocean

Knocean is a six-piece soul-reggae band from Denver, Colorado.

DBC

"The Danny Bastos Collective" has been playing the Denver music scene for 3 years blending the roots of Jazz, Funk & Rock with Latin & World rhythms and grooves performing original, soulful, high-energy music! Danny Bastos – Guitars/Vocals Danny has been playing guitar/piano/bass and singing around Denver and greater Colorado since 2009 playing any gig from solo jazz and singing Brazilian music at hotels and old folks homes to rockin' crowds with "The DBC" at places like Cervante's, The Goat Soup & Whiskey, The Walnut Room, Dazzle, and more! Also a music educator/instructor and teacher, Danny feels that the music he composes is a vision into the world sound of American Blues, Rock & Jazz with the infusion of the Brazilian Samba and Afro-Cuban rhythms and grooves and a burning inspiration to improvise and take the audience along on the musical journey. Zack Markle – Pianos/Keyboards Local Denver pianist/keyboardist and producer, Zack Markle, met Danny in Denver performing with The Atomic Brass Project, a collection of horn players and music teachers across Denver. Playing 70's funk ranging from Steely Dan, Earth Wind & Fire to Stevie Wonder and being deeply influenced by classical pianists like Chopin, Beethoven & Lizst, Zack & Danny clicked right away and began collaborating musically! Being a Hip-Hop producer, Zack Markle, was a huge help in the independent recording process during the course of "THE DANNY BASTOS COLLECTIVE" sessions! Helping set up microphones on the drum kit, the congas, and with his stash of sweet microphones, Zack was a true part of the collective in bringing the music to life! Trent Campbell – Bass Guitar Fellow Berklee Grad & Denver local, Trent Campbell, met Danny here in Denver at Dazzle, the best Jazz Club in Denver! Trent's influences from Hip Hop to Funk and artists like Beck sync perfectly in tune with the rhythmic necessities of Danny's music. A knowledgeable musician who produces his own Hip Hop beats, is also a music teacher around the local Denver area and is involved with the School of Rock program! Trent was an integral part to the independent recording process during "THE DANNY BASTOS COLLECTIVE" sessions! Either plugged in and laying down sweet, melodic bass lines or behind the board helping set levels, Trent, was helping bring the music to life and making his own mark on the record and in the band! John "JB" Bunting – Percussion How Denver local, John "JB" Bunting, & Danny Bastos met is a classic tale of a successful craigslist connection! JB joined Danny in the roots of the Collective when Danny was playing solo acoustic shows around Denver Open Mics, Coffeehouses, Jazz and Wine Clubs. Within no time, JB and Danny assembled with everyone and have been climbing the ladder of the Denver music scene! JB is the rock that makes the crowd dance, shake and move with his infectious conga rhythms or his sweet touches on the chimes, shakers, cymbals, and whatever toy JB may pull out of the box! JB helped become a huge contributing factor during the independent recording of "THE DANNY BASTOS COLLECTIVE" sessions because having worked as a sound engineer for various venues and as a studio musician in studios across the country, JB brought his experience & wisdom along with great humor & attitude, to make this project a memorable experience! Zach West – Drums Denver local and fellow music teacher, Zach West, met Danny while teaching at the Flesher Hinton Music Store. Zach has been playing drums in the Denver music scene for years and has graced the stage at Red Rocks! A true musician, Zach has an ear for music and has an amazing ability to share that with his students, which makes him a great collaborator on the music of Danny Bastos. During the independent recording process of "THE DANNY BASTOS COLLECTIVE" sessions, Zach came in and laid down his drum beats like a pro nailing some his parts in a few takes! What makes his playing really special is his ability to master the drum set with only a three piece set of kick drum, snare drum & hi-hat topping it off with a splash of cymbals that drive the music through each section!

THE OLLLAM
Event on 2013-07-24 21:00:00

“If Lúnasa set the gold standard for traditional acoustic music, these guys are bucking for platinum.  The word ollam is old Irish for a master musician, and there are three master musicians here.”
– Irish Music Magazine

Belfast-born uilleann piper John McSherry and Detroit natives Tyler Duncan and Michael Shimmin have been dreaming of .the olllam. for the last decade. With a name inspired by the king’s own ollam bards of Irish lore, the trio wanted an ensemble that naturally represented their combined experience in a multiplicity of styles.  McSherry, one of the best uilleann pipers in the world and a founding member of legendary Irish group Lúnasa, has been dubbed “a true master” by Irish Music Magazine and is well known for his current work with his group At First Light as well as his ‘90s stint with Donal Lunny’s Coolfin.  Duncan and Shimmin have also been busy in the United States performing and recording with their award-winning Irish-jazz crossover group Millish with Duncan doing double-duty in the dance-rock group My Dear Disco/Ella Riot. It seemed that the right moment for collaboration between the three musicians would never present itself.
However, in February 2012 during the calm before the summer festival season, the trio finally wrote and recorded an original album together, overcoming the Atlantic divide by means of the internet — they rehearsed and composed live on Skype and built the tracks back and forth one part at a time between emails. The result, their eponymous debut .the olllam., available Sept. 25 on Compass Records, is lush with trance-like melodies, stunning instrumental virtuosity and a magical marriage of tradition and technology, finding the listener somewhere between Radiohead and Planxty with the ambient emotionalism of Nick Drake or Explosions in the Sky.
Simplicity is key for the trio.  They wanted their musical ideas to mature organically in a controlled environment, rather than produce anything contrived or over-composed. It is their collective sense for arrangement — Duncan (uilleann pipes, whistles, guitar, Rhodes) and Shimmin (drums and percussion) both hold degrees in jazz performance, and the legendary McSherry (uilleann pipes and whistles) has performed and written with a wide variety of artists, from Ornette Coleman to Nanci Griffith — that gives the album its distinct style and form.
The trio’s approach to composition is unique in Irish music as well, foregoing the familiar jigs and reels. “We really wanted to investigate the melodies but focus on simplicity and memorability. Everything had a purpose with no excess,” comments Duncan. “Together we created a feeling of a narrative, each song is highly personal and tells a story. There are verses, pre-choruses and bridges instead of the traditional Irish tune forms.”
These 7 adventurous instrumental tracks are fully engaging, whether the rhythm section gradually adds and builds to a powerful climax as on “the belll” or energetic eighth note bass lines interplay with Duncan’s Rhodes piano and McSherry’s catchy melody as on “the follly of wisdom.” Subtle fuzz bass guitar from guest Joe Dart and stripped-down driving percussion of Shimmin compliment the complex and beautiful tone of both McSherry and Duncan. “Conceptually we took a more pop approach but really wanted to make sure it sounded totally organic at the same time. Basically, I was thinking more as a composer and less as a drummer,” comments Shimmin.
Mysterious and masterful as the legendary ollam Irish bards from which they draw their name, McSherry, Duncan and Shimmin have discovered a synergy within their diverse musical backgrounds – introducing a new Irish crossover group rife with creative brilliance and progressive appeal. Reflects McSherry, “I think we were all nicely surprised at how quickly and easily our ideas merged together and manifested into the music – everything seemed to fall into place right from the start. It was like we all knew instinctively that this was to be a special musical journey”

“The olllam’s new sound will surely fly high . . .”
– The Irish Times

“. . . an exquisite combination of virtuosic acoustic music with electric instruments. ‘the olllam’ is an extraordinary Irish fusion album by three masters happily at work.”
– World Music Central

“. . . it definitely lives up to the hype.”
– Tradconnect

“The simplicity brings elegance and clarity.”
– Valley Advocate

“Pushing several fronts at once, this album does not easily fit into any standard music category. Is it traditional, avant-garde, improvised, hypnotic, jazzy, or just cool-to-listen-to?  One thing I do know: I want to get ‘the olllam’ into rotation on the CD player in my car ASAP.”

FinanceSpectrum.com Endorses Most Basic Financial Rules as Most Effective

Boston, MA (PRWEB) July 08, 2013

Today FinanceSpectrum.com financial advice column released their support for Christian Science Monitor contributor Trent Hamms succinct financial advice, and expanded on his counsel. FinanceSpectrum.com offered advice to readers for tools that will assist them in actually living out Hamms pearls of wisdom.

Several days ago, FinanceSpectrum.com responded indignantly to a Time article that claimed that the action of reducing debt and putting money aside into savings simply doesnt cut it anymore. FinanceSpectrum.com argued the case, stating that on the contrary, chipping away at debt and putting more money into savings is exactly the right formula consumers should be using to reach financial independence. And now, on the heels of a July 2nd Christian Science Monitor article by Trent Hamm singing the praises of the simple formula of earning more and spending less, FinanceSpectrum.com feels validated and stands steadfast in their belief that the simplest financial rules are the most effective.

In the above-mentioned article, Hamm reported that he believes it is easier to actually earn money than it is to consistently set it aside and accumulate wealth. He stated that the only surefire way to gain wealth is to be consistently spending less than one is earning month after month. Hamm reported that 72% of Americans would have a hard time paying the monthly bills if they got laid off of work today, reasoning that most Americans tend to spend everything they earn and not actually accrue anything in savings. But having an emergency fund, nest egg, or retirement account are necessities to ones financial freedom. As with folks who have adult or senior life insurance, people with an emergency fund hope to never ever have to use it. But emergency funds are critical to ensuring the financial stability of an individual or family if someone were to fall ill or lose a job unexpectedly.

FinanceSpectrum.com commended Hamm for his short and sweet finance advice and urged readers to truly take it to heart. FinanceSpectrum.com is quoted as saying, Im sure many people will read this article, roll their eyes, and think, Yeah, yeah, I know alreadyearning more and spending less is the golden rule of personal finance. Tell me something I dont know. Yet I would beg the question to each American consumer how good of a job they do at actually following this formula? It seems to me that it is one of the easiest things to say and one of the hardest to actually do.

In the aforementioned article, Hamm discusses the gap, which is the term he uses to refer to the difference between the amount of money being earned and the amount being spent from one month to the next. Hamm advises making gaps big and positive, pointing out that somebody living paycheck to paycheck has a gap of zero.

FinanceSpectrum.com encouraged consumers to use online financial tools and apps to help them achieve a wide gap. Apps like Mint.com, Manilla, and SmartSaver all have unique ways of helping people stick to a budget. FinanceSpectrum.com also recommended good old Excel spreadsheets to track ones monthly earnings and spending, and to budget so that even if the income is growing, the spending doesnt change much. FinanceSpectrum.com is quoted as saying, Of course its always wonderful if we can earn more money through bonuses or getting a raise at work. But we have to remember to keep our spending low, and not adjust it so that we spend more as we make more. Think of it this way: if you spend like a millionaire, your savings account will look like a paupers. But if you spend like a pauper, your savings account will look like a kings.

Rick Otton Urges Aussies to Engage in Property Investment as a Way to Strengthen Their Superannuation

$

(PRWEB) July 13, 2013

Continuous revisions on the rules of superannuation only weaken the confidence of Aussies in its ability to provide them money during their retirement, said Rick Otton, author of How To Buy A House For A Dollar, in light of the changes announced by the federal government on superannuation.

Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan has announced that superannuation pensions and annuities earning over $ 100,000 will be charged 15 per cent tax starting July 2014.

Mr. Otton believes that the federal government should be more consistent with their policies to earn the trust of the people, despite their positive intentions in applying the change.

He shared with the listeners of his Creative Real Estate iTunes podcast that, under the current circumstances, Aussies should accept the reality that the traditional ideas of retirement are not present anymore and that they may need to work longer to build a more secure financial resource for their retirement years.

Mr. Otton recommended Aussies to enter into the real estate property market as a way to boost their financial resources even if they are retired or not. According to him, investing in real estate is fast and easy with the help of creative real estate processes because it doesnt require the investor to give high deposits or apply for a loan.

Aside from that, these processes can also be used by retirees to get out of the debt attached with their existing houses, he said. Creative real estate processes teach people how to transfer debt to buyers who are willing to make the payments for them, while earning positive cash flow for the seller on the side, he added.

Aussies depend on their superannuation as a steady source of income for their retirement, but in this world of constant change and development people should be open to accept new processes which can help them build a more financially secure future for themselves and their families, Mr. Otton reminded his listeners.

You can visit http://creativerealestate.com.au/ now to download an episode of Rick Ottons Creative Real Estate iTunes podcast.

About Rick Otton

Rick Otton has spent decades making money by snapping up inexpensive real estate and putting it to work building wealth, and teaching others to do the same.

He is the founder and CEO of We Buy Houses, which operates in the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand, and through this business he puts his strategies to work every day.

Mr Otton received his start in alternative real estate investment in 1991 in the US, and within a year acquired 76 properties. In subsequent years, he made a fortune using his low-risk, high-reward strategies to inexpensively acquire real estate. He continues to do so.

As well Mr Otton travels between his home in Australia, and the UK, sharing his wisdom and teaching others how to buy and sell real estate, free from the constraints imposed by traditional lenders.

In 2013 Rick is celebrating the 10 year anniversary of introducing his property option strategies to real estate investors in the United Kingdom the first person to reveal these ground-breaking strategies. In 2008 he created the first of his Houses for a Pound strategies, upon which he grows as markets and laws evolve.

Mr Otton has been featured in a variety of television programs and magazines and in 2013 he published How To Buy A House For A Dollar for the Australian market. This book has been named in the list of the Top 10 Most Popular Finance Titles for 2013, as voted by Money Magazine and Dymocks Book stores. A UK version is on the drawing board.
