What is MicroBirth?
MicroBirth is a new feature-length documentary looking at birth in a whole new way; through the lens of a microscope. The film investigates the latest scientific research that is starting to link the way babies are born with health in later life, particularly the increased risk of children developing certain immune-related conditions, including asthma, type 1 diabetes, celiac (coeliac) disease, obesity, cardio-vascular diseases, mental health disorders and even some cancers.

The purpose of the documentary is to raise public awareness of the importance of “seeding the baby’s microbiome” at birth with the mother’s own bacteria – this bacteria helps train the immune system to recognise what is “friend” and what is “foe”. We believe “seeding of the baby’s microbiome” should be on every birth plan – for even if vaginal birth isn’t possible, immediate skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding can still help to provide bacteria crucial to the development of the baby’s immune system. In the scientists’ view, if we can get the seeding of the baby’s microbiome right at birth, this could make a massive difference to the baby’s health for the rest of its life. Consequently, we believe that “Microbirth” is of extreme importance for global health and potentially, for the future of mankind!

We are happy to present experts and experienced mothers from the San Diego community to share knowledge, wisdom, and inspiration for this event. Each panel member brings something unique, something ordinary (redefining "normal"), and something dynamic to this event.

Christina Adams – A former NPR Day to Day commentator will discuss the science behind camel milk in human breastfeeding and as a milk alternative. In 2006, Adams reached across the world to two Israelis to obtain camel milk for her son, diagnosed with autism at age 2. One was a milk producer and the other an esteemed scientist. After drinking his first half-cup at bedtime, Adams’ son showed remarkable improvement in speech, attention and emotional connection the next morning. Her new Global Advances in Health and Medicine case report is the first US-origin medical journal article on camel milk treatment. She is the author of A Real Boy: A True Story of Autism, Early Intervention and Recovery. She writes and lectures internationally on camel milk, health, and autism-related topics.

Philip J. Goscienski, M.D. – Dr. Phil, as he prefers to be called, is a pediatric infectious diseases specialist with a 45-year career in clinical and academic medicine. Dr. Goscienski attained the rank of Captain in the United States Navy Medical Corps and was Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California at San Diego School of Medicine until his retirement from full-time practice in 1996. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Goscienski is the author of several medical journal articles and textbook chapters on various topics in pediatric infectious diseases. The Second Edition of his book on health, nutrition and fitness, Health Secrets of the Stone Age, was released by Better Life Publishers in January, 2005 and is a winner of two national book awards and earned first place in the Health and Medicine category of the 2006 San Diego Book Awards. He writes a weekly newspaper column, The Stone Age Doc and has written for the Saturday Evening Post, Currents, the newsletter of the American Heart Association, and other publications. Dr. Goscienski is certified as a CPR instructor by the American Red Cross. He is the medical director of a Public Access Defibrillation program in Oceanside, California where he resides with his wife, Patricia. He has five children and six grandchildren.

This foundational level programme on Solonics Practice releases latent capacities, and builds awareness of the fundamental patterns and deep dynamics of human change.
