Austin, TX (PRWEB) April 10, 2014

Dr. David A. Baker of Westlake Family Dental Care wants all area residents to use this April as Cancer Control Month as the stimulus needed to schedule an oral cancer screening with their Austin, TX dentist. Ensuring regular, preventive dental care is one way that Austin, TX residents can stay healthy either through prevention or early diagnosis of problems.

An oral cancer screening can be conducted by your Austin, TX dentist while in the office. Dr. Baker can take the time to look for cysts, tumors and any precancerous or cancerous lesions. Areas with a buildup of either red or white blood cells, especially when on the mucus membrane, are also of concern. These are called erythroplakia and leukoplakia, respectively. If any suspicious cells are noticed, diagnostic tests can be performed to gather more information. Cancer is the second most common cause of fatalities in the United States. Thus, the need for regular Austin, TX dental care becomes an important way to guard against the development of some forms of cancer.

Oral cancer can develop in multiple parts of the mouth region. These include on the lips, in the gums, on the front portion of the tongue, on the inside of the cheeksreferred to as the buccal mucosa and beneath the tongue. The roof of the mouth and the small place behind where the wisdom teeth may be are also some sites where oral cancers can be detected. Ensuring that you schedule regular dental care visits can help a dentist not just notice unusual cells but also notice changes in your mouth. Any change in appearance can be a valuable signal in detecting problems early.

Most people in the country have been affected by cancer in some fashion. Understanding the serious nature of this disease is important. That is why Dr. Baker and his staff hope all people in Austin, TX will take advantage of Cancer Control Month and schedule a visit with the dentist. To learn more about oral cancer screenings or other related topics, visit Dr. Bakers website or contact his office for a consultation today.

Book Released by Harriman House – Author C. Thomas Howard Ph.D., Behavioral Portfolio Management

DENVER, Colo. (PRWEB) April 17, 2014

The investment industry is on the cusp of a major shift, from Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT) to Behavioral Finance, with Behavioral Portfolio Management (BPM) as the next step in this transition. A newly released book published by Harriman House Ltd and authored by C. Thomas Howard Ph.D. of AthenaInvest explains how investment professionals can harness price distortions driven by emotional crowds to create superior portfolios.

Mastering your emotions is critical to the process and insights provided by Dr. Howard and his new book, Behavioral Portfolio Management, will put you on the path to achieving this goal. Professor Howard notes: The primary conclusion of forty years of Behavioral Science research is that there are few signs of rational investment decisions among typical investors. Investors thus sabotage their own efforts in building long-horizon wealth. As a result, emotional investors leave hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars on the table during their investment lifetimes. A major goal of the book is to help investors avoid these cognitive errors and, in turn, allow investment professionals to build superior portfolios.

Howard also explores how industry practices and tools such as style grids, standard deviation, correlation, maximum drawdown and tracking error, have entrenched emotional biases into the investing landscape. The result is a plethora of underperforming, bubble-wrapped portfolios. So even if investors can master their emotions, investors and investment professionals still must challenge the emotionally-based conventional wisdom pervasive throughout the industry.

Sheila Steele died on November 11, 2006 at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Sheila was an awesome person who helped many people during her life with us. She ran a successful website dedicated to assisting those who have been wronged by injustice and was an incredible photographer and human being. Sheila cared for others more than herself and expected little in return. My friend and associate Richard Klassen has known and worked with Sheila since 1991 and I had the privelege of becoming her friend and working with her since 2000. She was an incredible women with a big heart and always fought to find justice and the good in this world and the people in it. She will be greatly and forever missed by her friends and family.

I have posted this picture in the groups that Sheila belonged to so that people are aware of her passing. I hope no one minds.

In order to complete the program, the student has to submit a series of reading comprehension questions and a variety of self-healing and self-exploration exercises. Ayurveda is the traditional medicine of India. Ayurveda means in Sanskrit “knowledge or wisdom of life.” While a medical science, its scope enters into the realms of the spirit and the transformation of consciousness. Its fundamental philosophy is that disease is the end result of living out of harmony with our environment. The Ayurveda program in Peru covers the following subjects:

Introduction to history, philosophy, mythology of Ayurveda

Five element theory

Tridoshic theory

Sensory therapies

Ayurvedic psychology

Fundamentals of determining a client’s constitution

The SHIFT: Conversation
Event on 2014-06-18 17:00:00

Join us in a conversation with the incomparable dance artist Margie Gillis and award-winning filmmakers Peter Lynch, Joseph Johnson-Cami and Ayelen Liberona. The talk will be moderated by anthropologist Natasha Myers and will address dance's capacity for healing, conflict resolution, and a new paradigm wherein embodied wisdom and technology change our relationship to our bodies, our communities and our planet.

Margie Gillis' 40 year career has carved a remarkable path as one of Canada’s most recognized and celebrated dance artists. Her ideas reflect those of an emerging generation who struggle to find their voice in a time of rapid change and environmental crises. Ms. Gillis invites us to look within, to rediscover this occupied territory that is the body, where the capacity for transformation begins.

The conversation will be preceeded by a 20 minute screening of embodied films and will close with an informal reception to meet each other and continue the dialogue.

Now its easy for dentists to keep tabs on their industry. A new and comprehensive dental resource was launched last month by Productive Dentist Academy. The Dentistry News aggregation is a one-stop center for all news thats dental related, including articles, tips, videos, blog entries, and more.

It is a place where youll find words of wisdom, as well as Academy breaking news and tips from Vicki McManus, Bruce Baird and their team of experts in easy to read blogs, said Nomi Waters, a popular dental blogger. Topics cover such things as hygiene, finance, leadership, and marketing; and the articles themselves come from such trusted sources as Dental Economics, Dental Tribune, Inspired Hygiene, Academy of General Dentistry, as well as knowledgeable faculty from Productive Dentist Academy.

We really want to create a useful place for dentists to go where they can learn to be better business people and keep tabs on their industry, said Vicki McManus, CEO and co-founder of the Academy.

In addition, Productive Dentist Academy’s Dentistry News offers a place to download free educational white papers that will teach dentists how to manage their offices more efficiently, as well as a way to register for Webinars (free Webinars!) that will teach them to make improvements in such areas as effective communication, risk assessment, marketing trends, and so on, all useful for helping them run more efficient and profitable dental practices. There is also a link for subscribing to a free newsletter from the Academy.

Commercial Roofing Contractor KPOST Company’s New Blog Provides Insights on Trucking Regulations

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) April 25, 2014

KPOST Company posted today a new blog about trucking regulations imposed by The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration that will affect multiple industries in many ways. In Commercial Roofing Costs are on the Rise, KPOST details how these new trucking regulations are expected to affect any industry utilizing trucking as a method of transportation, including roofing.

The federal government, in its divine wisdom, implemented a safety program for trucking that called for a weekly cut of 15 hours of drive time, said Steve Little, KPOST Company president in a recent KPOST Company blog post. Couple that with the 15% decline in available truckers, and we have 30% less availability of trucking. That hurts everyone.

According to Little, these regulatory changes will take up critical time and slow down the delivery process for the receiving and shipping of materials. This slows down a vendors ability to react quickly to customers and ultimately it, negatively impacts the bottom line.

Some product manufacturers have already begun reacting to the change. In attempts to shorten the distance for deliveries many manufacturers are building regional distribution facilities in hopes of saving money and time.

Obviously having to build new facilities costs money, and that will be passed on to the consumer. While these regional facilities may make up some of the time delay, this solution will not alleviate cost increases, said Little.

Although cost is a major aspect that will be impacted by regulatory changes, there are also major changes expected in the ways in which construction companies conduct business. More expectations and insights on the affects of trucking regulation changes from KPOST Company are available via the Latest News section of their company website.

About KPOST Company KPOST Company, Dallas commercial roofing experts, is an industry-leading commercial roofing and waterproofing, contractor whose core values are SAFETY, QUALITY, and VALUE.
